What I'm Thankful For...

Hi all. This is Suz. I thought I would finally join my cute hubby in this world of "baby blogginess" as he calls it. I don't have much to say about myself, but I can for sure go on and on about our sweet baby girl. I thought I would start by listing some things I am thankful for- considering it is Thanksgiving time and all.

1. My sweet little bug- the most darling baby in the world!

1. (I have to have a tie for the top spot of course!) My sweet husband- who is the best daddy in the world!
3. The time I get to spend just watching my little bug and my hubby talk and interact and play and cuddle and sleep together. (You can see Kelsey talking to her daddy in the third pic from Ross' last post.)

Okay, so now for the not so serious things-- even though they are things I am seriously thankful for!
4. Disposable diapers- our little girl is a serious diaper filling factory!
5. Footed sleepers- it is getting cold and our wiggly, wiggly baby (she gets it from her daddy) can never keep socks or covers on her at night
6. Showers- When I get a second to take one =)! Even though I almost always get to listen to a screaming baby.
7. A car seat base that stays in my car so we can easily snap the car seat in and out with her already in it- though it barely all fits in my tiny car.
8. T-shirts, sweatpants, and sweatshirts- the wardrobe of choice for this new mom! (Not that it wasn't my wardrobe of choice when I was childless too...haha!)
9. Ice cream! Seriously, I never craved it when I was pregnant, but ever since I have been "unpregnant" I seem to always be in the mood!
10. Bananas- They are such a good source of nutrition and pretty filling too! Unfortunately, I couldn't stand them when I was pregnant...but now I love them again! Yay! Ross hates them and they are one of my favorite foods. They are especially good with whipped cream on them... though I guess that takes away my argument that they are good for you.

I better stop at ten things since they are getting so random anyway. Obviously our lives revolve around the babes these days! I am just so thankful to be blessed with such a beautiful, sweet daughter and a wonderful husband who is a great father for our little girl.

How do I...

Make my blog wide? Seems like everyone else is running their text out to the end of the screen, but my stuff is crammed into this little column.

Rambling, baby pics, etc.

Did you want to see our baby? Of course you did. **cackles, tents fingers**

I don't have anything to say. Which should come as no surprise. I just have some time so I thought I would write a few words. Kelsey is doing great; the little girl has finally started putting on some weight; but at almost 24 inches and 9 lbs 3 oz, she's in the 75th percentile for height, and the 10th percentile for weight. So tall and skinny like her parents. No surprise there. In fact, when we would go in to the doctor concerned about her being so small (about 2 weeks ago she was 7-13 and 22) the nurses would just say "Well look at you two! OF course she's skinny and tall!"

School is well; I went on a ride along with Santa Clara Fire on Sunday. I was nervous before hand; I hadn't gone on a ride along before and didn't know what to expect; would I like it? Would I be scared? Would something gross me out? Would I forget everything I had learned? The answers are Yes, No, No, and No. In fact, I was complimented on my knowledge and ability to work under pressure by the crew. Yes, I did just toot my own horn. Don't like it? Too bad. My blog, my post, my rules. It was, no joke, he most fun I have had in I don't know how long. And I mean go-kart fun, not play with the baby fun. Totally different. I would rather spend a day with a crew than go racing all day, or really, do pretty much any activity. The down time can be boring, no doubt; we went about 6 hours without a call for a while, but then spent about 2 more on 3 calls that were really awesome. I feel bad for the people that are hurt/sick/injured in some way, but the thrill of driving through the city, lights and sirens, wondering what challenge you are going to face, is really quite the rush. I now understand why Kevin takes every single call back he can get; I would take em too! I want nothing more than to be a firefighter for SantaClara. I'll be applying to the volunteer reserves come April. I decided to sit out this round of hiring since we had just had Kelsey. A good move methinks.

School

Makes me want to die at times. Had midterms and skills testing for EMT this week, with another round of skills testing next week. I managed a 90% on the midterm and got through the skills testing this week well; it was Trauma Assessment, FBAO to CPR, and Airway Management; next week is Medical Assessment and CPR/AED Skills. I've also managed to keep a 90% in the class period, which means I got to sign up for clinical rotations early; which would have been great if I didn't forget to fill out my info packet, which emant that I couldn't do Good Sam Hospital on the day I requested, or that the SCF didn't accept my request of rotating on Thanksgiving. Both bummers, but neither insurmountable ones. So now I am signing up about the same time as everyone else is.

At least I wasn't one of the 7 people who got dropped after the midterm (you have to score at least a 75% to continue in class) from out class of about 30, or one of the 17 or so that got dropped from my friend Mallory's class. Or one of the two guys who failed on two skills tests on Thursday, and were consequently, dropped from the class. So I'm still in, at least for a few more weeks until we have the final in December. Have to score at least an 80% on that one, and the class is about to get alot ahrder. Fortunately there wasn't any questions really about the 7 or so different forms of shock; I didn't study those very well.

At any rate, I can't even begin to describe how nice it would be to not have to work and go to school at the same time. My brain is very tired, and aside from the artsy-fartsy part of my brain, I don't have to think (but probably should) much at work. I just think about MT skills all day long. And what will I be doing once I am EMT certified? I don't know, but I probably won't be doing anything EMT related; I doubt I will change jobs. Dana's is a good place to work, and, importantly, it pays enough to get us through our bills. Maybe I'll get a job as an ER tech; supposedly they make enough money to survive on. The typical EMT (who works for an ambulance company) gets paid about 10 an hour. No bueno. ER tech basically means I would be emptying bed pans and getting coughed on, but it's related and looks better on a resume than 'Cabinet Finisher". But at least I can say that I work with machinery.

Daddy goofed

Does anything happen in our lives that doesn't revolve around our daughter? I don't think so. I guess that's the way it works. It's good. I just had that thought as I realized that I haven't written about a single thign that we have done since the baby came, except the baby. Probably because all I do is work and go to school, and all Suz does is take care of the baby and coach volleyball. Which is where she is right now.

And, also where we were last weekend. We drove up to Shasta for the weekend to go to a volleyball tournament for D.A. There were some high points, and some low points, but all in all, Suz and I had fun. Dad made two big mistakes though. One was putting everything for the stroller in the car except the one piece that we needed for it to work, and the other was a doozy; I left the diaper bag in Shasta and we didn't realize it until we were 3 hours down the road! Now just a diaper bag, who cares, right? Except the bag had 75 mils of milk in it, along with everything needed to feed the baby, including all our bottles. We had a few spare diapers laying around, but babies, last I checked, can't eat diapers. So what did we end up doing? Finding a Target, getting some supplies and a bottle, while Suz made some baby milk in the car and I tried to calm a very, very hungry baby (who hadn't eaten in, I dunno, about 6 hours). It ended up ok. We had been on our way to meet Suz's cousin Jennifer and her family for dinner. We were about, oh, 2 hours late. But they were understanding and Ron and Trina kept them entertained till we and the babe came. Very nice people. I think Trina has some pics, maybe they will find their way up there.

More camera phone pics, so they aren't good quality. But she's cute, so stop your complaining already.

Oh and we gave her a pacifier for the first time this weekend. She seems to like it, but not so much that she keeps it in her mouth forever. Hopefully she won't fall in love with it.

Taking the night off

I took the night off from baby duties last night; I was so exhausted from work, volunteer stuff, school and the late night feedings that I talked my sweet wife into giving me the night off; I got to sleep all the way through while she tended to Kelsey. It was especially nice of her, condiering that it was her birthday yesterday! Can I just say I feel about 1,000,000 times better than I did yesterday. But the trade off was the Suz got the morning off; she's upstairs taking a well deserved nap while I watch our rather fussy since I'm hungry daughter. But all is well. Kelsey really is a sweet heart.

Babies and eating

As it is to be expected, little Kelsey had given Mom and Dad quite the hard time the last few days; Friday and Saturday it was all screams and cries till the middle of the night; this little girl had the most peculiar eating habits. Hence me being up at 4 am warning up some milk for her feeding. I'm tired, as seems to be the case whenever I get the chance to post something on here.

Also hence the gibberish that really doesn't make any sense, that seems funny when I type it and retarded afterward.
